artist profile
Angela was born in British Columbia, Canada, and comes from a multi-generational family of passionate artists. She was inspired and encouraged as an artist by her grandmother, Barbara Bradshaw. As a child she kept a scrapbook of facial elements which she cut out of magazines and organized into sections: lips, eyes, nose, etc. She'd use those as references and create her own people. Angela completed her first commissioned portrait at 15.
After 12 years of corporate experience as a Graphic Artist and Art Director for companies like Costco, RealNetworks and Garrigan Lyman, Angela started painting full-time. Subjects in her work are outlined with bright, modern colors. These colors are chosen to enhance the setting and tell an emotional story. Angela makes her home in the Pacific Northwest.

my painting style
"To me, paintings are much more than simply a likeness, they are an opportunity to capture a glimpse into the lives of the people around us. These subjects come to life on paper first, then canvas. I use perspective, composition and colour as tools to tell the story. My job as an artist is to simply translate the beauty so that we all might be inspired.
I would consider myself a colorist first, but I also like to play with light and how it impacts the subject matter. While I started off using watercolor paints before moving on to oil paints, I now focus mainly on using acrylic paints. The speed at which they dry works well with my quick, impressionistic style. It also works well in my home since my young son loves to be involved in my work."
